Posted by Don Woods on behalf of Rich Zanetti. An event has also been added to the club calendar with reminders set for May 23 & 25.

    All,

Per our May breakfast meeting, the ride is on and will be the same scenario as we’ve known it in the past for those who’ve gone on it. No entry fee for this day. EVERYTHING IS WEATHER DEPENDENT FOR THE RIDE. I’ll keep up with forecasts as we get close to Monday. I’ve heard there is some construction on/near Ecorse Road but that came from a YAM volunteer who thinks our ride rout will be OK.

So here’s the time and rout for those new to this event. We start the first marshalling ride point at 10 mile/Beck Rd, N. E. quadrant parking lot, for an 8 AM departure down the Beck Rd. ride rout. Our next marshalling point is in the lot of the S. W. quadrant parking lot at 5 Mile/Beck. We will leave there at 8:30 AM for the rest of the rout: Beck to Geddes to Canton Center/Bellville to Ecorse to Beck (left turn) to Ave. A to the now main building. ETA is about 9:00 AM. For those who can’t ride but will come in a car, feel free to drive in the trail position of the ride group all the way to YAM if you desire or just go your own rout and meet us there.

Upon arrival, we’ll first have breakfast. A reception person I called last week said the VIP breakfast is not being offered so we might just be eating with everyone else for the $6 price. I was advised the vets eat free so if you fit the category show your proof.

The real treat this year are some tours that I’ve set up with 2 YAM volunteers. One is with our own Merv Wygant who’ll ride with us there. He’ll give us a private tour of the archives with which he works. A ground equipment, retired Army gent I met by chance at a Catholic league basketball tournament, will give us some general tour of the building and even possibly out on the ramp. The C-47 will fly that day for a fly-over of the Dearborn parade. There could be another flight if revenue flying is to occur which might mean watching start-up and take off. I’d plan on possibly being around there during the whole morning to take advantage of some things that we’ve not fully done in the past. You are at your leisure/discretion to leave when you want. My ride back will take me to the Plymouth VFW as a stop on the way home and maybe the Farmington American Legion on Grand River near Orchard Lake Rd if anyone wants to join me..

I’m hoping our webmaster can get this out to all on the list. I will call Jim Pierson and Dave Van Dale who are not internet capable. If you know anyone else, such as MNO folks, make sure they get the word if interested.

Lastly, someone should bring a camera for this and send photos to Peter Miller . I’ll do an article for the newsletter. Copy me in on the photo sending so I know what was captured for purposes of the article.

I’ll have my cell phone with me that morning in case contact is needed from 7 AM through the YAM event: (cell phone will be in the event reminder email)

    That is all.

    Addendum changes for Monday:

    1. Ride rout altered due to construction on Belleville Rd. and parts of Ecorse Rd at nearby.. New route is Beck to MI Ave W.B. to Denton Rd S. B. to Ecorse Rd. E. B. to Beck Rd and into YAM per earlier balance of the rout.
    2. Instead of breakfast first, Merv wants to get us the early tour of the archives. Then possible other tours by Jim Maizone, Ground Equipment, squeezing in breakfast during the morning.

Weather is still looking very good. Let’s ride. I’m bringing a camera for this event.
