December holiday event

It’s time to revive a December holiday event tradition which we used to do some years back when certain dining establishments allowed both food (calamari!,etc.) and smoking a fine leaf post dinner. We did this at such good places as 221 Merrill St., Volare and the somewhat pricey Big Rock Chop House Diamond Crown Cigar Lounge where Ron Pruett had a private humidor.

I am proposing a between-the-holidays event at 2 establishments close by and centrally located to most in Royal Oak. Both are reasonably priced for the palate.  The date is Wednesday, December 27:

1.      First we start at 5:30 PM at the Redcoat Tavern, 31542 Woodward Ave, east side, north of 13 Mile, south of Normandy. 248.549.0300. Their menu is varies and even has calamari (carmalized with banana peppers) besides their famous burger sauce with big onion rings. Google the menu and you’ll surely find some tasty morsels to consume. Adult beverages obviously are also there.

2.      For those who either might enjoy a good cigar and some fine spirits (tap or bottled beer, various liquors), or least continuing on with good conversation, then it’s on to Jenuwine’s Cigar Lounge just south of the Tavern, 27754 Woodward Ave., east side, north of 11 Mile, south of Catalpa. 248.291.5634.  I recently attended  a holiday customer appreciation event there, last Friday, and the red carpet was rolled out by the family owners including great appetizers,  a free cigar together with an acoustic guitar player to top things off. The place has been redone to allow more space with comfortable seating, a walk-up bar and a good sized humidor. They even had Indian Motorcycle Cigars on the back wall besides a whole host of various popular brands including their nicely priced house brands. We will end up there after the Tavern around 7 PM.

So that’s the plan and the details are designed to accommodate any still working and even between the 2 holidays.

See you there.
